Join a purpose-driven, female-led architecture studio designing smart, community-focused housing and entertainment spaces.

Why Join Rootstock?
At Rootstock, we’re building more than buildings — we’re building a practice where talented people can do their best work without sacrificing their lives outside the office.
We are a female-led studio committed to collaboration, empathy, and design excellence. We value voices at every level and believe in creating space for personal and professional growth
We design meaningful housing, entertainment and community-oriented projects that contribute to a better built environment. But what makes us different is how we work: collaborative, flexible, innovative, and human. Here’s what you can expect:

- Flexible & Supportive Culture – Hybrid work, flexible hours, and a team that respects your time and boundaries.
- Tight-Knit, Low-Ego Team – You won’t get lost in the crowd. Your ideas and expertise matter here.
What You’ll Do
As an Intermediate Architectural Technologist at Rootstock, you’ll help bring our projects to life — from schematic design through construction documentation and into the field. Your work will include:

- Coordinating with architects, consultants, and contractors to ensure smooth project execution and documentation clarity
- Interpreting and applying building codes and zoning bylaws to ensure regulatory compliance across multiple jurisdictions
- Leading Revit model development and documentation in a cloud-based collaboration environment
- Exploring and implementing AI-assisted workflows (e.g., code audits, drawing automation, generative massing tools) to enhance efficiency and design intelligence
- Attending meetings and periodic site visits to support construction and resolve technical issues in the field (optional but a great way to grow!)
- Contributing to internal innovation efforts, including workflow improvements, tech stack development, and peer learning
What You Bring
- Diploma in Architectural Technology from an accredited institution
- 3–7 years of experience in architectural practice, with a focus on construction documents and consultant coordination
- Proficiency in Revit (AutoCAD basics), with experience in cloud collaboration platforms (e.g., BIM360, ACC)
- Strong Knowledge of Alberta Building Code, NBC, and zoning bylaws
- Demonstrated experience with wood-frame construction, building envelope detailing, and technical coordination
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to manage tasks independently
- A proactive, solution-oriented mindset and collaborative working style
- Interest in emerging technologies and curiosity about using AI, automation, or generative tools to improve quality and efficiency (experience with Dynamo, Veras, TestFit, etc. is a plus)
